Tierney Cahill's story has inspired me in several different ways.

I love how ordinary she is.

Cahill is a typical women; a history teacher of a sixth grade class with a mediocre salary in the state of Nevada. She is the portrait of the raw ability to do anything you set your mind to, regardless of your societal status in your city, or ultimately, in your life. She was challenged by one of her students, and her philosophy is apparently "practice what you preach." She told her students that people should be more involved in politics, and she proved her point in the most radical of ways.

Her bravery inspires to me try new things, and to be willing to leap across obstacles that may tumble in the way of my goal. Her goal was to run for the President of the United States, and the only thing that held her back from the great attempt was her age. She was only 33, two years younger than the required 35. She strove for the next best thing, and her students were behind her all the way. Congress.

Her struggle was so inspiring that her face is on the cover of a book, dedicated to amaing teachers who've changed the world around them. She's left an imprint on that sixth grade class' life, and by speaking at our campus, she's left an imprint upon me.

I've always wanted to be a doctor, a child psychologist. My grades were mediocre in highschool, but I somehow managed to graduate with a GPA of 3.7. I thought I would have to settle as a high school counselor or something of that sort, with a mundane salary and a life to match it. Many things in life, including my family and friends, have pushed me to achieve this goal, and I plan on going to graduate school to recieve my masters in psychology, and eventually, my doctorate. Tierney Cahill's story has only strengthened my drive to do just that. I know I will achieve many obstacles on my way to a six figure salary, but I know that it will be worth all of the hardwork in the end.
